The Firecrackers High energy old time string band music, music you can't sit still to. Forged by many joyful late-night sessions, The Firecrackers play party tunes and songs taking inspiration from their fiddle heroes from the 1800’s to the present day. Songs and tunes from the Camp Creek Boys, Skillet lickers, Earl Collins, The Foghorn String Band and The Wandering Ramblers all feature in their lively set. Their combined credits include The Midnight Specials, The Brickyard Rounders, A&E Oldtime String Band, Ragged Out String Band), and their name is inspired by their red-headed fiddlers! |
Ben Paley Ben Paley was surrounded by traditional music from the outset: his father Tom Paley; mother, singer Claudia Gould; and step-father Ron Gould, a writer on jazz, country and folk music, were all enormous influences. At six years old, Ben began both violin lessons and learning traditional fiddle tunes. When he was nine, the family moved to North Carolina, where Ben began to learn about harmony, improvisation, and playing nicely with others. Currently he plays with the Long Hill Ramblers, The New Deal String Band and the Servants' Ball amongst other bands and duos, and is a sought-after tutor. |

Jeff Warner Jeff Warner grew up listening to the songs and stories of his father Frank Warner and the traditional singers his parents met during their folksong collecting trips through rural America. He is amongst the nation’s foremost performer/interpreters of traditional music. His songs from the lumber camps, fishing villages and mountain tops of America connect 21st century audiences with the everyday lives–and artistry–of 19th century Americans. His songs are rich in local history and a sense of place in the distant past. He accompanied his parents on their later field trips and is the editor of his mother’s book, Traditional American Folk Songs: From the Anne and Frank Warner Collection. |
